- ➤ High Springs CRA reviewed a proposal to launch a free shuttle service connecting natural springs with downtown High Springs. The service will run weekends from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. during peak tourism months (March through Sept) and will operate two routes with local business support. Alachua County Today
- ➤ High Springs' New Century Woman’s Club installed its new Board of Directors with Bonnie Josey as president and other officers for a term ending in 2028 during a recent ceremony. GFWC District 5 Director Sallie Milner led the event and presented personalized gifts to each member. Alachua County Today
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The NHTSA issued recalls for nearly 160,000 vehicles nationwide including Toyota hybrids, Hyundai Tucsons, and Ford models due to issues like loose bolts and faulty wiring. Gainesville drivers with these vehicles should expect notification letters coming in mid-January to February as manufacturers work on fixes. The Gainesville Sun
- ➤ Former state Rep. Chuck Clemons starts as UF’s VP of government and community relations to connect UF with opportunities across all 67 counties by streamlining processes and saving the university 45.8 work weeks + $100k annually. - ➤ Alachua's youth basketball season starts with Opening Ceremonies on Saturday, Jan. 10, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Legacy Multipurpose Center. Over 220 children have registered through 399 Sports and Recreation and games will be held on Saturdays. Alachua County Today
- ➤ The No. 22 Florida Gators will host Dartmouth at 6 p.m. today at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center to finish their non-conference play. They seek a win to begin SEC play on a four-game streak. The Independent Florida Alligator
