- ➤ Gainesville-based professor Ben Sasse announced on Dec. 23 his terminal stage 4 pancreatic cancer on social media and now faces treatment amid support from UF officials and colleagues + friends. - ➤ Local officials warn pet owners to watch for invasive cane toads that secrete a dangerous toxin during warm, rainy days. They advise washing pets’ mouths immediately if contact occurs (to lessen toxin exposure) and trimming yards to remove hiding spots. The Gainesville Sun
