COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Caliber Car Wash joined with Veteran Building Solutions to host a charity car wash to support homeless veterans. Half of the money earned will help give veterans a place to live and the event started Friday at 9 a.m.—it will end on Sunday.  WCJB

SPORTS NEWS

  • Buchholz wide receiver Justin Williams scored two touchdowns to clinch a playoff win over Mandarin and secure the team's fifth straight region title — he is a 4-star recruit committed to Florida football.  The Gainesville Sun
  • Florida football is no longer pursuing Lane Kiffin and has shortlisted Tulane’s Jon Sumrall and Washington’s Jedd Fisch to lead the program—UF aims to hire a coach before early National Signing Day on Dec. 3.  GatorSports
  • Florida football will try to end a tough season as the Gators (3-8) host rival Florida State (5-6) today at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium with kickoff at 4:30 p.m. on ESPN2.   • Lane Kiffin will announce his coaching decision today after meetings with Florida, Ole Miss, and LSU—local reports note that his family recently visited Gainesville, boosting rumors of a move to the Gators.   • Florida ended its pursuit of Lane Kiffin due to his erratic behavior & is now focusing on new candidates, with Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall emerging as a potential target. The Gators interviewed a dozen candidates & remain optimistic ahead of Early National Signing Day on December 3.  WCJB
