  • Pastor Adam Joy and Deeper Purpose Ministries will host a free Thanksgiving luncheon for area seniors on Tuesday, November 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 at the High Springs Civic Center+ rides and volunteer help are available for those in need.  Alachua Chronicle

CULTURE NEWS

  • Gainesville hosts the Cane Boil and Fiddle Fest, a traditional event that shows how people once made syrup from cane like in the 1800s. Jane Cummings said the festival brings the community together & teaches local history while keeping a sweet tradition alive.  WCJB

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Alachua County commissioners approved $200,000 in funding to expand food distribution programs for county residents—this decision, made earlier in November, aims to address food insecurity as demand increases.  WCJB

  • Florida NFL teams are playing key games today as the Buccaneers face the Rams at 8:20 p.m. on NBC and the Jaguars take on the Cardinals at 4:05 p.m. on CBS—WRUF reporters Riley Orovitz and Dalton Sallengs have split predictions while the Dolphins remain on bye week.  WRUF
  • Oak Hall football won its first SSAA title in program history Saturday with a 27-10 win over Cambridge Christian as the team improved from a 4-6 record last year to mark a historic turnaround.  The Gainesville Sun
  • Florida hosted Tennessee at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville—Florida had won 10 straight home games against the Volunteers before facing a Tennessee team coming off a blowout win over New Mexico State.  The Independent Florida Alligator
  • Florida football lost to Tennessee on Nov. 22 with a score of 31 to 11—its worst loss in 35 years. The team, now at 3 to 8, has one game left and its search for a new head coach continues—adding pressure on a challenging season.  GatorSports
  • Jayden Woods, a freshman EDGE rusher for the Gators, has made a strong impact this season with 16 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and an interception that set up a touchdown in the Ole Miss game — and he earned praise for his progress and focus from teammate George Gumbs Jr. With Gumbs Jr. undergoing knee surgery, Woods will take on a larger role as Florida prepares to face Tennessee on Saturday, with game coverage starting at 4:30 p.m. on ESPN 98.1-FM and WRUF 103.7-FM/850-AM.  WRUF
