  • Today, Trinity United Methodist Church hosted a movement of faith—bringing local residents together to share hope and love.  WCJB
  • Melrose Forever said its residents oppose the permit for the Wildflowers Music Festival set for March 13–15 — they worry the event will bring heavy traffic, noise, and environmental damage. The group urged Alachua County Commission to deny the permit to protect the town’s rural character.  Alachua Chronicle

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters from High Springs, Newberry, and other agencies responded to a brush fire at 24715 NW 94th Avenue on November 16 and contained it to 3.7 acres at 2:39 p.m.—they saved five boats, five structures, and four vehicles with no injuries reported while officials said the blaze likely began from an escaped pile burn from Saturday night.  Alachua Chronicle

  • UF finance student Elliana Boyarshinov said asking deeper questions can change how people connect and share real feelings—her experience with insensitive questions about her vision taught her that moving past small talk can reveal what truly matters. SPORTS NEWS

  • Florida wrapped up its SEC regular season Friday afternoon at the Gillom Athletics Performance Center with a 3—1 victory over Ole Miss that improved their record to 14—10 overall and 9—6 in conference play—three players averaged double-digit kills during the match. The win sets the Gators up for a likely No. 5 seed and a first-round bye in the upcoming SEC Volleyball Tournament.  WRUF
  • Seven Gainesville-area high school football teams remain in the postseason after five were eliminated last week; upcoming games include rematches with Williston facing Hawthorne and Buchholz hosting Ponte Vedra-Nease later this week—state championship contests are set for Saturday.  The Gainesville Sun
  • Florida football lost their third straight game, falling 34—24 to No. 7 Ole Miss at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium after the defense allowed 237 rushing yards and the offense was held scoreless in the second half. Interim coach Billy Gonzales said the team fought hard but a costly fourth-quarter interception ended a chance to tie the game.  GatorSports
  • The Santa Fe Raiders lost 34 to 30 in the Class 2A-Region 2 quarterfinals on Friday — a late touchdown by Clearwater Calvary Christian gave them the win. Coach Earnest Graham said his team showed significant improvement in his first season.  WRUF
  • Florida basketball coach Todd Golden addressed the media after the Gators' win over Miami — he explained key moments from the game and outlined practice plans for upcoming matchups.  GatorSports
