- ➤ School Board Member Tina Certain sent a letter through an attorney defending her free speech and calling the November 13 meeting a 'Star Chamber proceeding' and a 'McCarthy-inspired show trial,' and she will appear voluntarily to answer questions she deems fit. Her attorney, Gary Edinger, said her Facebook post is protected by the First Amendment and has not caused any issues in local schools—ensuring her remarks remain a private exercise of free speech. - ➤ Gainesville and Alachua County leaders unveiled three new flagpoles at Veterans Memorial Park to honor America’s 250th anniversary.
