- ➤ Gainesville hosted its fourth annual Latino festival on Saturday, November 1, 2025. International singer Luis Enrique headlined the event — local vendors, businesses and bands joined to celebrate Latin culture. WUFT
- ➤ Micanopy’s Fall Festival celebrated its 50th year during the Florida vs Georgia football rivalry weekend as thousands gathered along Northeast Cholokka Boulevard to visit 250 vendors selling handmade crafts, art and food in a family-friendly setting. The festival was organized by 12 nonprofits and all event T-shirts sold out before noon on Saturday—leftover funds were then divided among the groups. The Independent Florida Alligator
- ➤ Galactic Empire—a viral heavy metal cover band—will perform at Wooly in downtown Gainesville on November 7 at 7 p.m. They play instrumental metal versions of movie scores including Star Wars and Indiana Jones. The Gainesville Sun

- ➤ Gainesville city commissioners voted on Oct. 9 to consider selling Citizens Field—a cherished high school sports venue—to the Alachua County School Board with conditions that it remain a stadium until a new one is built by 2028. The proposal is part of an $84 million plan to upgrade public facilities. WUFT

- ➤ TV20 invites voters in Gainesville to pick one of five nominees as the Play of the Week from the regular season finale; the winner will be announced (Thursday at 6 p.m.) during the sportscast. WCJB
- ➤ Florida's Gators lost by a score of 93 to 87 against No. 13 Arizona in Las Vegas on Monday night as Thomas Haugh scored a career high 27 points while his team struggled against a strong offensive display — head coach Todd Golden said the loss would help the team learn before facing North Florida on Thursday. - ➤ Alachua County will host the 2027 World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships at West End Park and the county Sports and Events Center—both upgraded to support world-class athletic events. - ➤ Gainesville High volleyball returned to the Class 5A final four for the first time in 14 years after a 3-0 win over Legacy last Wednesday, boosting the team's postseason win streak to six. - ➤ Taylor Parks from Clearwater fulfilled her dream of playing for the Gators as a sophomore volleyball setter after a standout freshman season that included a gold medal at the NORCECA Pan American Cup. - ➤ Florida women’s basketball began the season Monday at the O’Connell Center with a 96-62 win over North Florida—junior guard Laila Reynolds and freshman Caterina Piatti led the team to an early 9-0 record against the Ospreys. The team will play again Thursday at 5 p.m. in a doubleheader with the men’s game scheduled for later that evening. WRUF
- ➤ Buchholz boys soccer team opened strong and won 6–0 against Eastside on a cold Monday night as they scored four goals in the first half and two later—players like Cadet and Ortiz drove the win. The team will face West Port Tuesday at 7 p.m. and the coach expects more wins this season. WRUF
- ➤ Florida football kicker Trey Smack broke a school record on Nov. 1 when he kicked his ninth field goal of 50 or more yards—a 54-yarder that gave Florida a 20-17 lead over rival Georgia.
