- ➤ A Publix near the University of Florida campus in Gainesville sold a Fantasy 5 lottery ticket on Oct. 8 that won about $113,000 — the ticket was purchased at 5801 SW 75th St in Tower Square and winners must claim prizes within 180 days. The Gainesville Sun
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gainesville leaders offered to sell Citizens Field to the school district on the condition that a new stadium is completed by the 2028 season—if the field is not used for football, it will return to city control. City and district staff will soon discuss cost, timelines and future use of the stadium. WCJB

- ➤ Florida men's basketball sold out its season tickets for the upcoming 2025-26 season after nine home games sold out last season following a national championship win—fans can still buy Arena Passes that cover all 15 home games and other ticket options will be available soon. GatorSports
- ➤ After the 2025 season, the Jacksonville Jaguars will look for a temporary home while EverBank Stadium is renovated and its capacity is reduced in 2026, with the plan lasting until the new stadium opens in August. The team will consider moving to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville or Camping World Stadium in Orlando in 2027 — a decision that must be approved by NFL owners. WRUF
