  • ➤ Damorie Lamontay Miles, 19, who was on house arrest for previous offenses, was arrested yesterday for selling marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school—police said a search of his Square One Apartments uncovered over 130 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, and nearly $1,000 in cash.  Alachua Chronicle

  • ➤ UF hosted an informal performative masc lesbian contest on Sept. 3 at Plaza of the Americas where about 20 women competed using creative outfits and props such as guitars and tool boxes. Judges and 258 voters selected standout contestants—Lindsey Gu was named the People’s Princess and Claire Busansky won the top prize—to strengthen UF’s queer community ties.  The Independent Florida Alligator
  • ➤ On Sept. 3 at UF’s Plaza of the Americas, about 20 contestants competed in an informal performative masc lesbian contest—258 votes crowned 18-year-old Lindsey Gu as the People’s Princess and judges named Claire Busansky as top honoree.   • ➤ After two student deaths led to installing speed tables on University Avenue, FDOT received an award for improved traffic safety, though officials now worry as dangerous U-turns put pedestrians at risk.   • ➤ Ayers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Trenton is hosting Hometown Hoedown on Saturday, September 6th from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s awareness walk in Gainesville on October 11th—the event will feature five bands, vendors, food trucks and a brain bus for Alzheimer’s education.  WCJB

  • ➤ 2025 graduate JanMagnus Johnson won the first-ever UTR Pro Summer Slam Championship over Labor Day weekend by defeating top-seeded Miles Jones in straight sets 6-2 and 7-6—earning $4,400, the largest prize check in UTR history.  WRUF
