EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Florida Virtual School started the new 'AI in Math' program to help Algebra 1 students learn AI skills through fun math activities. A June pilot showed students had higher confidence in math, and enrollment is open from Sept. 1—Sept. 30 with a certificate from the University of Florida for those who finish. Alachua Chronicle

- ➤ Gainesville city commissioners will decide today whether to renovate or demolish the Thelma A. Boltin Center in the Duckpond Neighborhood. The first-phase $3 million stabilization does not make the building usable — full renovation may cost over $6.6 million or a new facility could cost up to $7.7 million. The Gainesville Sun
- ➤ Gainesville earned LEED Gold certification from the USGBC on June 30 after scoring 70 of 110 points on its first LEED for Cities application. - ➤ To mark Suicide Prevention Month, local groups are offering counseling and community events to help people with mental health challenges — the Alachua County Health Promotion and Wellness Coalition works with schools to make referrals.
