- ➤ Last week in Florida, initial jobless claims dropped from 6,252 to 6,230 as reported by the U.S. Department of Labor—national claims also fell from 227,000 to 224,000 on a seasonally adjusted basis. The Gainesville Sun
- ➤ Florida gas prices increased last week as the average for regular fuel reached $2.98 per gallon on Monday—up from $2.95 the previous week. The state’s prices remain 4.5% lower than the national average even though a year ago they were 8% higher. The Gainesville Sun

- ➤ Florida is rebuilding its linebacker room after losing key players last season — the team now relies on experienced juniors like Grayson 'Pup' Howard and Jaden Robinson along with promising sophomores and freshmen who will compete for playing time.
