CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 27-year-old Hawthorne man, William Blas Hernandez, was indicted by a federal grand jury on drug trafficking and firearm charges after a July traffic stop in Gainesville—officers found drugs and a lost gun in his car. Alachua County Today
- ➤ A 71-year-old Jonesville resident and retired contractor was arrested on July 28 for 18 felony charges after nearly 60,000 files of child sexual abuse material were discovered at his home—he now faces charges for transmission and possession of child pornography with bail set at $1.8 million. - ➤ Florida football held its 13th fall camp practice on August 14 at the Heavener Center—defensive tackle Caleb Banks was seen with a walking boot and listed as day-to-day while defensive back Aaron Gates missed practice after ACL surgery.
