- ➤ Gainesville Police are searching for Dustin Godfrey, 34, an autistic man who was last seen Monday along Northwest 68th Avenue wearing a light green and tan shirt, denim cargo shorts, and black shoes — anyone with information is urged to call the police. WCJB

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Aug. 12, 2025, United Launch Alliance’s Vulcan rocket lifted off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station carrying two U.S. national security satellites into geosynchronous orbit—Floridians from Jacksonville to Miami may have seen the bright launch if weather allowed. The Gainesville Sun
- ➤ Gainesville leased six RTS buses to Six Flags for $932,212 in a two-year deal on Aug. 7 to help offset a 22% cut in transit funding from UF. The city will meet on Aug. 14 to review fall service changes—such as merging and reducing routes—and a paratransit provider has offered a price drop to save about $213,000 annually. - ➤ Fifth-year seniors Caleb Banks and Tyreek Sapp were named to the Chuck Bednarik Award preseason watch list on Monday. Banks had 21 tackles, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one recovered fumble in 2024 — while Sapp played in all games, started nine and led his team with seven sacks and 13 tackles for loss. WCJB
