- ➤ 21-year-old Javari Baptiste, convicted in the deadly American Legion shooting in 2021, is set to appear in court today—his lawyers argue judges illegally added time to his 50-year sentence and that the state's motion to remove his judicial review after 15 years in jail should be corrected. WCJB
- ➤ Thomas A. Masterson, 47, from New Jersey, was arrested on August 10 after he tried to force entry at an apartment on SW 39th Blvd—he had been banned from the residence and now faces charges of attempted burglary and trespass after warning with bail set at $25,000. Alachua Chronicle
- ➤ Barry Anton Scott, 71, was arrested on August 8 for trespassing and now faces eight drug charges after deputies searched his Linton Oaks apartment and discovered a safe loaded with cash, paperwork, and controlled substances (including crack, marijuana, Buprenorphine, substituted cathinones, fentanyl, and MDMA) that point to intent to sell.
