- ➤ Gainesville’s Royal Queens Women Empowerment is hosting a Christmas in July toy drive to help local families in need. The drive accepts gifts for children (ages 2-18), clothes, and monetary donations until November 1. WCJB
- ➤ TV20's David Snyder previews a busy week in North Central Florida as turn lanes near Gainesville will close until the end of July for repaving. - ➤ On July 13, 2025, Gainesville Police arrested Duard Augustus Benton III, a 58-year-old man, after he allegedly pulled a knife on a Walmart Loss Prevention Officer who tried to stop his shoplifting and then threatened a responding officer during a foot chase at northwest Walmart — he now faces charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting an officer with violence and petit theft with prior convictions. - ➤ Ronnie Lavern Walker, 65, was arrested yesterday at Copeland Park (7020 NE 27th Avenue) after allegedly hitting a man with a piece of wood; the victim was taken to the hospital with head injuries. Alachua Chronicle

- ➤ City leaders announced that Gainesville is offering $300,000 in grants for cultural non-profit organizations to fund community events—non-profit owners can apply for support to run their programs. WCJB

- ➤ Super Bowl Champion Quinyon Mitchell returned home on Saturday to host a youth football camp for nearly 300 kids aged six and older. The former Toledo player, drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024, said the camp is his rock — his foundation for giving back. WCJB
