- ➤ Alachua County Sheriff's Office is asking for help finding Chloe Isabella Lacorte, a 20-year-old white woman last seen near 4200 SW 21st Place on July 3 who is 5'3", 95 pounds, has brown hair and green eyes, and has three tattoos (the date 2-16-2007 on her left arm, black lines on her left hand, and a sun near her left elbow); anyone with information should call Deputy C. - ➤ Gainesville police arrested 18-year-old Kelvin Baker on an attempted murder charge after he shot a person on Northeast 24th Street in Duval Heights around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday—Alachua County Fire Rescue treated the victim for non-life-threatening injuries. WCJB
- ➤ Gainesville deputy shot Tyrese Da'jon Jones—26—last night as he was taken into custody after allegedly holding a woman at gunpoint in her car for about four hours, and he now faces charges including kidnapping, obstructing justice, and aggravated assault. Alachua Chronicle

- ➤ SweetBerries Eatery and Frozen Custard closed its Newell Hall location on April 29 after three years on campus because managing the dining operation was challenging. The Paper Bag, a sandwich deli with a simplified menu to cut wait times, will open on July 7—giving students a new spot to eat between classes. The Independent Florida Alligator
- ➤ The Latin American and Caribbean Collection at Smathers Library, housed on the third floor since 1925, holds over 500,000 books and rare primary sources that support research on Latin America and the Caribbean (including a June exhibit of Caribbean cookbooks with bilingual recipe cards). - ➤ UF maintenance worker Henry Rodriguez rescued reusable water bottles from the trash at the Southwest Recreation Center and, with his neighbor's help, distributed them to homeless people in Gainesville to reduce waste.
