- ➤ A woman on probation, Dahlia Shanta Coney, 45, allegedly threatened to kill an Uber Eats driver at her Tara Greens home on June 15 after arguing over a late food order and missing drink + deputies arrested her after reports that she brandished a firearm and later produced a realistic BB gun from her closet. - ➤ A Gainesville man was struck and killed at 8:55 a.m. on Sunday near the Williston exit ramp on I-75 when a tractor-trailer hit him and fled the scene—witnesses described the vehicle as a black semi-cab pulling a white trailer and Florida Highway Patrol is seeking information on the driver. - ➤ Florida football received its 11th commitment for the 2026 class when three-star offensive tackle Javarii Luckas, 6-foot-5 and 305 pounds, pledged to join the Gators on June 16—he chose Florida over offers from USF, West Virginia, FIU and Florida Atlantic. GatorSports
- ➤ Two Gator baseball players, freshman Aidan King and sophomore Liam Peterson, have been selected to join the USA Collegiate National Team Camp. They will take part in a five-game Stars vs. Stripes series starting June 29 at Atrium Health Ballpark in Kannapolis—after which the final roster for the Friendship Series against Japan will be announced.
