  • Jimmy Wilson is rebuilding the Gainesville Word of Mouth Facebook group after Facebook deleted the original group, which Gina Jones founded 10 years ago — the group had over 90,000 members before its removal for vague rule violations.  Alachua Chronicle

CRIME NEWS

  • Candace Marie Naughton, 43, was arrested on June 15 after four people said she pointed a gun at them during a road rage incident on the 5200 block of SW 20th Avenue—she now faces four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with bail set at $10,000.  Alachua Chronicle
  • Florida Highway Patrol is seeking the driver of a semi that hit a 45-year-old Gainesville man on I-75 near the Williston Road exit at about 8:55 a.m. yesterday — the victim died after the driver fled the scene.  Alachua Chronicle

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today the Lake City Council votes on standardizing park hours after recent incidents, and on Tuesday a joint meeting between Alachua County and Gainesville City will discuss a potential partnership to advance the Hoggetowne Medieval Faire. On Thursday, Juneteenth celebrations in Williston include a Freedom Day Festival with an opening ceremony at Heritage Park Pavilion—while on Friday Florida will release county-by-county unemployment numbers for May.  WCJB
