- ➤ Alachua County's ham radio team, led by the North Florida Amateur Radio Club in partnership with Alachua County Emergency Management, will host a 24-hour radio marathon on June 28 and 29—featuring live satellite connections, robotic antenna tracking, and high school student training in advanced communications. Visitors can join free tours at the Alachua County Emergency Operation Center in Gainesville on Saturday from 4 p.m.—6 p.m. to see demonstrations of emergency communications in action. - ➤ Gainesville Police are searching for Ronald Ramalho (74) who was last seen leaving his apartment at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday with his walker later recovered at the Publix on N. - ➤ On Monday morning, sheriff’s deputies locked down Newberry High School after a 911 caller reported a gunman on campus, and officials later called the report swatting—a false call intended to trigger an emergency response—that found no threat. WCJB

- ➤ Sherilyn Farris, the lead middle school teacher at Millhopper Montessori in Gainesville, was awarded $500 for her efforts in inspiring students in science and robotics.
