CULTURE NEWS

  • At Gainesville University Club, the monthly Mascuerade event spotlights drag kings during the regular Tuesday show. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Gainesville High School celebrated 424 graduates (class of 2026) on Saturday, May 30 at Exactech Arena on the UF campus where family and friends cheered. Graduates received their diplomas during the ceremony, marking a significant milestone.  The Gainesville Sun
  • Eastside High School held its graduation ceremony for the class of 2026 yesterday at Exactech Arena in Gainesville (students and families marked the milestone with cheers).  The Gainesville Sun
  • Buchholz High School celebrated over 500 students who received their diplomas at Exactech Arena as family and friends gathered to honor the graduates today.  The Gainesville Sun

HEALTH NEWS

  • Fade Fest returned Saturday at North Central Florida Community Center offering free nutrition guidance, blood tests, body composition scans + flexibility assessments to help residents take control of their health. CEO Cameron Hogan said Fade Fuel now partners with local Mel’s Kitchen to add savory options to monthly meal plans.  WCJB

SPORTS NEWS

  • Florida baseball faced Miami in the Gainesville Regional winners bracket on Saturday, May 30 at 8 p.m. at Condron Family Ballpark + the ACC Network broadcast the game nationally after the teams met earlier in the season.  The Gainesville Sun
  • Florida baseball won its Gainesville Regional opener Friday, May 29 when Brendan Lawson hit a walk off home run to lift them to an 8-7 win over Rider. The game featured six home runs in the final two innings as the Gators rallied to overcome a Rider surge.  GatorSports
  • Santa Fe High School’s softball team competed in its first national tournament since 2013, overcoming weather delays and extra-inning wins starting Tuesday until a 7-1 loss to Temple College Friday; the young team showed potential despite missing the NJCAA D1 title.  WRUF
  • Florida baseball's game vs Miami in the Gainesville Regional was moved to 8 p.m. on May 30 after Miami's contest ended at 1:53 a.m. local time (which triggered a NCAA rule requiring a 12-hour delay), while the Rider vs Troy game started at 3 p.m.  The Gainesville Sun
