CRIME NEWS

  • Jenna Lee Isgar, 31, was arrested yesterday for aggravated domestic battery after allegedly biting and stabbing her ex-boyfriend at GRACE Marketplace near 3055 NE 28th Drive — the incident began on May 21 following a dispute over $50.  Alachua Chronicle
  • Alachua county deputies arrested 81-year-old John Webb after he waited in his ex-wife’s home with a revolver and fired into the ceiling as heirs prepared the estate for sale, with one bullet hitting a vehicle but no one getting hurt; he now faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault.  WCJB
  • Deputies responded to a shooting in the Linton Oaks neighborhood Saturday afternoon and took one person to the hospital—officials asked everyone to avoid the area while they searched for the suspect.  WCJB
  • Gainesville Police Department identified the individuals involved in shots fired at a BBQ restaurant in northeast Gainesville Friday morning—authorities continue to review the incident.  WCJB

  • Gainesville marked Florida Emancipation Day on May 24 with a Freedom Walk from Depot Park to the Cotton Club Museum and Cultural Center led by local leaders Vivian Filer and Mayor Harvey Ward—attendees marched singing freedom songs and learned the importance of Black history.  The Gainesville Sun

  • Santa Fe College Head Baseball Coach Johnny Wiggs was inducted into the 2025 NJCAA Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame — he has led his team since 2007 to win nine Mid-Florida Conference titles, two state tournaments, and two JUCO World Series while amassing 606 wins overall. He said he is grateful for the opportunity to share this honor with his players and assistant coaches.  WCJB
