- ➤ James Mcfall, a Gainesville resident, has called for an investigation into employment practices at the Fairfield Marriott Gainesville I-75 after a former employee reported issues with underage drinking, drug use, and sexual harassment. He claims that young UF students were pressured — mainly to drink alcohol and join drug-fueled parties — while a manager was forced to support these practices amid concerning family ties to a convicted drug trafficker. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Florida lacrosse beat Stanford in double overtime on May 11 to advance to the NCAA quarterfinals with a final score of 13 to 12 — marking the team's ninth appearance in the quarterfinals and a come-from-behind win. The Gators will host Duke on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the next round. WRUF
- ➤ Buchholz baseball team won an eight-inning game 5—4 against Pace in the Florida Panhandle under lights after Kai So hit two homers and Blake Brewer delivered the go-ahead RBI. With the win, the team clinched a spot in State for the second straight year. WCJB
- ➤ After a nearly two-hour weather delay Saturday, Texas scored five runs in the sixth inning to beat Florida 5-2 at UFCU Disch-Falk Field — Florida had led 2-0 early but faltered when its pitchers struggled, leaving the team with a tough series challenge. WRUF
- ➤ On Sunday at Disch-Falk Field, the Gators shut out top-ranked Texas Longhorns 4-1 to claim the series win. Freshman pitcher Aidan King delivered seven strong innings with nine strikeouts — Florida will face Alabama on Thursday for their final regular-season series. The Independent Florida Alligator
- ➤ Florida softball will host the Gainesville Regional at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium starting May 16—where the third-seeded Gators will play with Mercer, Georgia Tech and Florida Atlantic.
