- ➤ A Gainesville man was arrested on two attempted murder charges yesterday—his family says he is innocent. WCJB
- ➤ An FDLE memorandum details evidence sought during a July search of the offices at 14804 Main Street—shared by Alachua County Today and Boukari Law—as part of an investigation into alleged juvenile sexual abuse, and no charges have been filed. Alachua Chronicle
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Florida lacrosse came from behind as they trailed 4 to 1 in the early game on Saturday and beat Arizona State 21 to 10 to win the Big 12 Tournament Championship and earn an automatic NCAA bid (the team had a record of 17 to 2). - ➤ On May 3rd, the Gator softball team upset the No. 1 Sooners with a 6-4 win at KSP & earned their first series win over the top-ranked team. WCJB
- ➤ The Gator lacrosse team won its first Big 12 championship title by beating Arizona State 21-10 in Boulder, CO—coach Amanda O’Leary made a change that helped goalkeeper Georgia Hoey record eight saves and sent the team to the NCAA tournament for the 14th time. WCJB
- ➤ Gainesville Area Rowing delivered a historic performance at the 60th Annual FSRA Sweep Championship in Sarasota on May 3, with eight boats competing and six advancing to finals to earn two state championships. The girls pair of Sophie Goldstein and Addy Mathews and the boys junior 4x both won state gold, and the team will travel to Gainesville, Georgia on May 10—11 to compete in the USRowing Southeast Regional Championship. - ➤ The No. 7 Florida Gators softball team defeated the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners 6-4 in Saturday’s rubber match, marking their first series win against a top-ranked opponent.
