- ➤ Pepsi Co. announced Thursday that Gainesville-made Gatorade is now targeting non-athletes with a popular lower sugar drink and a new product launching in 2027 with three times more electrolytes. The beverage brand will soon add clearer hydration labels (and remove artificial colors) while keeping its original high-sugar formula for athletes. WRUF

- ➤ On Saturday, May 30, Heartwood Soundstage will host the inaugural With Everything Going On festival as Gainesville songwriter Jordan Burchel debuts his new record. - ➤ Gainesville PorchFest, a new community music festival backing a local cause, will debut this weekend in the Town of Tioga. WCJB

- ➤ Gainesville was ranked fifth among 292 college towns for 2026 by RentCafe on Friday, Apr. 17 (scoring 91.79) based on affordability, livability and education. The ranking noted UF’s low in-state tuition and 84% graduation rate as key factors. The Gainesville Sun

- ➤ Florida lets residents search for unclaimed property for free at FLTreasureHunt.gov; in March the state returned $92 million to Floridians, including $1 million to Gainesville residents, offering families a chance to reclaim forgotten funds. The Gainesville Sun
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ UF Health Florida Recovery Center announced that Dr. Scott Teitelbaum, who aided hundreds through addiction recovery, died during surgery Thursday night. Interim director Dr William Hollifield will lead the center as funeral services are held Sunday at 1 p.m. at Forest Meadows Cemetery. WCJB

- ➤ Florida's gymnastics team led by Coach Jenny Rowland will aim for its fourth national championship today at 4 p.m. on ABC at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth & secured a semifinal spot with a 197.7875-point performance against LSU, Georgia and Stanford. WRUF
- ➤ Oak Hall Eagles won the 1A-District 4 boys lacrosse title on Thursday after building a 12-1 lead by halftime and stopping any comeback, and they will host a quarterfinal round on Tuesday as they get ready for regionals next week. WRUF
