SPORTS NEWS

  • The No. 8 Florida Gators softball team beat No. 19 Ole Miss 8-7 in game one of their three-game series in Oxford, overcoming an early lead by the Rebels. Strong hitting and steady pitching helped Florida secure a narrow win—key after a loss to Arkansas.  WRUF
  • On April 12, 2025, Florida Gators softball beat Ole Miss 14 to 3 after an explosive eight-run inning that secured a series win. The team will complete a sweep today at 2 p.m. on SEC Network — with key contributions from Kenleigh Cahalan and Taylor Shumaker fueling the rally.  WRUF
  • Florida basketball players Walter Clayton Jr.—who will soon join the NBA—as well as Alijah Martin and Thomas Haugh worked a shift at Raising Cane’s on University Avenue Thursday morning after winning a national championship in San Antonio; they answered media questions, served fans and filmed promotional videos as part of a new campaign. Clayton said he has not yet spoken with NBA teams while fans marveled at the players’ unexpected roles at the restaurant.  GatorSports
  • Florida ends its spring practices with today’s Orange and Blue game at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at 1:02 p.m.—head coach Billy Napier returns with a star sophomore quarterback as the team tests new options at receiver and on defense.  The Independent Florida Alligator
  • The Florida Gators played their spring game on Saturday—where the Blue team won 38 to 32—and showed both veteran skill and rising talent. Senior Ja’Kobi Jackson ran for 198 yards and three touchdowns while freshman Dallas Wilson caught 10 passes for 195 yards.  WCJB
  • At P.K. Yonge's Bobby Hawkins Field, high school games showcased a sloping outfield—created for better drainage from a former landfill—that challenged outfielders with unpredictable bounces and gave batters a chance for extra bases.  WRUF
