  • High Springs Community School students will debut the Bike Bus on Wednesday, May 6 for Bike and Roll to School Day, joining a supervised ride with two routes organized by Safe Kids NCFL and local safety partners + helmet use is required for safety as families travel together to school.  Alachua Chronicle
  • The University of Florida ranked No. 2 among public universities on Forbes’ 2026 New Ivies list released on April 8 (highlighting its advances in AI education with new certificates and the HiPerGator supercomputer) and marked a continued focus on preparing graduates for an AI-driven job market.  The Gainesville Sun
  • ACPS held a meeting Tuesday evening in the Oak View Middle School cafeteria to discuss the school's conversion from fifth–eighth to pre‑K through eighth starting in August.   • Alachua County’s hazardous waste transfer station processes 775 tons of daily trash with rising electronic waste from phones and vapes, as officials update drop-off sites and safety protocols to prevent fires and protect data privacy.   • Florida football secured five star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller's verbal commitment on April 8, joining the class of 2027 and boosting the Gators' recruit rankings.
