EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Santa Fe College hosted an event where students met two miniature therapy horses — Magic and Circus — who have traveled the world to help children cope with hardships. The event was organized by the Gentle Carousel Miniature Therapy Horses non-profit, which has brought these horses for 27 years. WCJB
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At their March 25 meeting, the Alachua County Commission renamed two motels purchased for a permanent supportive housing project—Budget Inn is now called Tumblin Creekside and Scottish Inn is now known as Forest View. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of September. Alachua Chronicle
- ➤ Attorneys for the school board requested an appeal from the State Board of Education to overturn the charter school conversion of Newberry Elementary—arguing that a rushed process and a split vote among teachers made the conversion unfair. WCJB

- ➤ UF Health doctors stressed that early detection saves lives during colon cancer month & they urged everyone to take proactive steps to protect themselves. WCJB
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ UF men’s basketball will face Maryland in San Francisco — Gator fans from Gainesville are flying to support the team — and they hope the win sends UF to the final four. WCJB
- ➤ The Florida Gators Track and Field team will open its outdoor season today at the FSU Relays in Tallahassee—facing teams like Georgia Tech, FSU, Syracuse and Auburn in a two-day meet. WRUF
- ➤ Florida Gators men's tennis has 11 wins and 7 losses overall and 6 wins and 3 losses in SEC play, and it is the No. 5 seed in the conference. The team will travel—today to face LSU—to build on a three-game win streak and is ranked No.29 in the ITA. WRUF
- ➤ The Florida Gators make their 11th Sweet 16 appearance today as they face Maryland at 7:39 p.m. ET at the Chase Center in San Francisco — the game airs on TBS/TruTV and streams on Sling. GatorSports
