  • DISH removed WCJB local news from its lineup on Tuesday, March 10, leaving subscribers without access to ABC, The CW, and local programming. Gray Media offered an extension to continue talks, but DISH rejected the proposal.  WCJB

ECONOMY NEWS

  • On Monday, March 23, Florida’s average regular gas price dropped from ($3.950) to ($3.934) even as the national price rose, according to AAA. Gas prices in Florida remain below the national average, offering some relief for drivers.  The Gainesville Sun

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On March 23, the Frazer Middle School team won its second straight MATHCOUNTS state championship, with student Jason Zhang earning first place and a spot on the Florida team set to compete in Orlando on May 10 — 11.  Alachua Chronicle

  • Low-to-moderate income couple Tameria and Xavier Filer joined Habitat for Humanity’s program to build a new home with 0% interest and sweat equity (50 hrs required) while selecting a lot on Feb. 24 near family resources and planning to complete it in about 10 months.  The Independent Florida Alligator

  • Caroline Stanton, the No. 1 softball recruit, graduated early from Buford High in Dec. 2025 and enrolled at Florida in January — she trains with former teammates in Gainesville and will debut in collegiate play in 2027.  The Independent Florida Alligator
  • The Florida Gators will host their 2026 Pro Day — a key NFL evaluation — Thursday in Gainesville. Nine invitees will complete drills like 40-yard dashes and position tests, with scouts set to assess their potential ahead of the NFL draft.  WRUF
  • Florida women's basketball hired Tammi Reiss as its new head coach on Monday, Mar. 23, replacing Kelly Rae Finley after five seasons. The former Rhode Island coach, a three-time Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year, brings a strong record from a 28-5 season and will lead the Gators.  The Gainesville Sun
  • Florida freshman runner Oussama Allaoui resumed training after Ramadan ended on March 19 by adjusting his workouts – morning runs after suhur and evening hard sessions after iftar – in order to prepare for the outdoor season.   • Florida Gators gymnastics earned the top seed in the NCAA Tempe Regional after winning the SEC Championship Saturday and will face Cal, Penn State, and either Arizona or Arizona State in Tempe on Thursday, Apr. 2 at 10 p.m.  The Gainesville Sun
