- ➤ Louis Elmer Platt V (36) of Melrose was arrested on March 23rd when he fled a deputy in a stolen Mustang and shoplifted items from a convenience store; he now faces charges including fleeing with lights and sirens, driving without a valid license and resisting arrest. Alachua Chronicle

- ➤ In Gainesville, Georgia defeated Florida 17-2 on March 22 to clinch the series for the first time since 2006, hitting six home runs + recording 16 hits in a dominant game. WRUF
- ➤ Florida's Gators defeated two-time defending champion UConn 77-75 after trailing for most of the second half—guard Walter Clayton scored 23 points with two crucial 3-pointers to lift the team into the Sweet 16.
