- ➤ Publix stores in Florida will be closed on Easter Sunday, April 20 because they only close on three major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter) and normally open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily at over 870 locations. The Gainesville Sun

- ➤ A portion of Northwest 24th Road will be known as Whitfield Jenkins Road in honor of the former Marion County NAACP president. City officials said the renaming will take effect soon + the change aims to recognize his impact on the community. WCJB
- ➤ The Alachua County Commission and the City of Gainesville Commission will hold a joint meeting on Monday, March 24, at 1 p.m. in the Grace Knight Conference Room (12 SE 1st St.) at the Alachua County Administration Building. The meeting will review the annual GCRA Report and be available to view live. Alachua Chronicle

- ➤ Alachua County will host the World Masters Games starting Sunday as athletes from around the globe come to compete in various events. Local staff from Visit Gainesville will help the competitors settle in — some warm-up activities are scheduled for this weekend. WCJB
