  • On St. Patrick’s Day, Gainesville’s Community Band is celebrating 50 years of music by performing Irish-themed pieces—its annual concert draws fans of all ages. The band said it will continue the tradition next year, promising more festive music and community celebration.  WCJB

HEALTH NEWS

  • On March 8, Sister Hazel, Rick Springfield, and Edwin McCain performed at UF's Phillips Center to raise over $800,000 for cancer research. The funds benefit Lyrics for Life (founded by Ken Block), Stop Children's Cancer, and the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation.  The Gainesville Sun
