- ➤ Community leaders are working on the Historic Heritage Trail to honor the legacy of Gainesville’s Black neighborhoods on Fifth Avenue and Pleasant Street. The project will add markers—showing wins in business, medicine, arts, education and spirituality—to preserve the past as the area changes. The Gainesville Sun

- ➤ Dozens of Lincoln High alumni and community members gathered Saturday at Lincoln Middle School to unveil a memorial wall that engraves 2,869 names of graduates from 1920 to 1970 — 15 years in the making — honoring Gainesville’s first all-black school and its legacy. Mainstreet Daily News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission warns that property owners have until April 15 to remove bats from attics, barns or sheds since after that date it becomes illegal to use exclusion devices during mating season, which runs from April 16 to August 14. Homeowners should inspect for bat entry points plus seal them properly to keep bats out. The Gainesville Sun

- ➤ On Friday night at Bridgestone Arena, the No. 4 Gators beat the No. 21 Missouri Tigers 95-81—Walter Clayton Jr scored 18 points while Will Richard and Alijah Martin added 17 each, and the team will face No. 5 Alabama in the semifinals on Saturday. WRUF
