- ➤ Deeper Purpose Community Church will host a Spring Break food distribution event for families in Alachua County at Irby Elementary School on Saturday, Aug. 14 at 9 a.m.; families must show a photo ID with proof of a child to qualify & volunteers will assist with a quick park-and-walk check-in to help serve 300 families and 1,000 kids. - ➤ Summer Blitz 2026 brought together community partners to offer 36 summer enrichment programs for Alachua County students today in Gainesville. City leaders said the event helps families compare camps, classes and sports programs to plan for summer break. WCJB

- ➤ University of Florida researchers have made funds available for NCFL growers to obtain conservation technology — a water-saving solution — that will help local farmers reduce water usage on their fields. The project promotes sustainable farming practices in our community. WCJB

- ➤ Florida's Gators lost a 6-2 game to High Point Saturday night at Condron Family Ballpark and will try to avoid a series sweep in game three today at 1:00 p.m. The Independent Florida Alligator
- ➤ No.4 Florida gymnastics will host their final meet of the season against No.2 LSU at the O’Dome today. The team will honor seniors (Lori Brubach, eMjae Frazier, Selena Harris-Miranda and Riley McCusker) as a win could boost their push for the SEC championship and NCAA tournament. WRUF
- ➤ The Gators will face Kentucky at 4 p.m. Saturday in Lexington as they try to secure a top NCAA seed while riding an 11-game winning streak (following strong triple-digit scoring games), and the Wildcats aim to improve their tournament ranking after a recent loss. WRUF
