EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Rising rental prices in Gainesville are pushing UF and Santa Fe College students to sign leases quickly as one-bedroom apartments now cost around $1,200 a month, with leasing managers warning that increased signings drive up rents + prompting some to move closer to campus. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gainesville converted SW 10th and SW 12th into one-way streets to improve safety (adding bike lanes and parking) as part of the Vision Zero plan. Residents and business owners say the change implemented earlier this month has complicated navigation, and city officials may still adjust the design if problems persist. WUFT
- ➤ The Alachua County Commission approved a temporary permit for WildFlowers Music Park in Melrose Tuesday night after public presentations (requiring no trespassing and no parking signs) and cleared the way for a festival set for March 13-15 on the 270-acre site. WUFT

- ➤ On Wednesday (Feb. 11), the Gator softball team returned from a six-game road trip with an 11-1 win over Jacksonville University, capped by Kenleigh Cahalen's grand slam in the third inning that sparked a dominant performance at home. WCJB
- ➤ The Rock National basketball team honored its seniors on Tuesday with an 83-47 win over Jordan Christian Prep, but the program will close this season + coach Justin Harden has left for a new role at Syndicate Academy as the school plans to rejoin FHSAA. GatorSports
- ➤ Newberry baseball defeated Crystal River 11-2 on Tuesday after building an 8-0 lead by the second inning with junior Tavis Honeycutt hitting a key solo home run. The Panthers will take a few days off before hosting Oak Hall on Tuesday. WRUF
