  • Organizers at one of North Central Florida's largest food banks are helping Buchholz students launch a food pantry to improve access to groceries in the community, with preparations underway at a local facility. The project will soon provide essential support to families in need.  WCJB

SPORTS NEWS

  • Yesterday, No. 1 Florida Gators gymnastics narrowly beat No. 4 Alabama in a SEC opener that featured a strong beam performance, while the season picks up momentum from a winning debut on Jan. 10 and key signing announcements that shape upcoming meets.  WRUF
  • Florida swimmers beat Auburn last Friday in their final SEC dual meet before preparing to host Florida State on Jan. 30. The team swept events in both swimming and diving to keep their undefeated record in conference play.  WRUF
  • Florida women’s tennis dominated Charleston Southern University with a 6-1 win on Saturday in South Carolina, and the Gators now prepare for the ITA Kickoff Weekend starting Sunday, Jan. 25 at 4 p.m. EST against Ole Miss in Raleigh.  The Independent Florida Alligator
  • Under new coach Jon Sumrall, Florida football has reshaped its roster by adding over 20 transfers (including key players Eric Singleton and Aaron Philo) and losing nearly 30 players from last season. The team remains close to complete with future signings allowed until Feb. 5.  GatorSports
  • Florida Track and Field opened its indoor season Friday at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center, with 45 Gators competing in 28 events and two relays. The team will travel to the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville on Jan. 30.  WRUF
  • Fans can vote for Gainesville’s best Big School Offensive Football Player from 2025 in an online poll with 13 nominees + the poll closes at noon on Thursday, Jan. 22 following the release of All-Area teams for five fall sports by the Gainesville Sun.  The Gainesville Sun
  • Florida Gators men's basketball beat Vanderbilt 98-94 on Saturday (Memorial Gymnasium) in Nashville, with center Reuben Chinyelu and guard Xavian Lee each scoring 20 points to lead the game. The win keeps the Gators on track this season.  WCJB
  • Florida’s Gators men’s tennis clinched a 4-3 home opener win after Henry Jefferson secured the match with a 6-3 third set & boosted their record over the Bulls to 55-3.
