- ➤ Residents joined the First Day Hike at Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings' Historic Farmyard on New Year's Day to learn about Florida's World War II role & taste concentrated orange juice from historic recipes. WCJB
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fire rescue units have 85% contained a 90-acre wildfire near the Clay and Putnam County line as of Thursday. Officials say crews will continue fighting the fire to gain full control. WCJB
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The state law speeding up refunds for healthcare overcharges took effect on Thursday (Jan. 1), promising faster reimbursements for patients. Gainesville residents with billing concerns may soon see quicker resolution of errors. WCJB
- ➤ At HCA North Florida Hospital, NICU babies celebrated their first New Year today and hospital leaders expressed gratitude to the NICU team for their dedicated care. WCJB
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Gators redshirt sophomore Bryce Lovett will return to play in 2026 after starting at right tackle last season. He gained game time in 2024 and 2025 — preparing to bolster the offensive line as the team rebuilds. WCJB
